So today we went on a tour up to the Piazzale Michelangelo and to see the Chiesa di San Miniato al Monte. That last one is a church that is named for a saint. The legend is that the Saint was condemned to death and he was put in a cave or something with leopards and he tamed the leopards that he was put in there with and they wouldn't kill him. Then they put in Lions and he did the same thing. Finally they just beheaded him and after he was beheaded,
he picked up his head and walked into the hills. Where he finally set down his head was where they built the church and our guide said that the bones of the saint were still there. There was the best view of the city from up there! After going to the church, we went to the Piazzale Michelangelo. Which also had amazing views of the city. If you want to see all of Florence, you must go there on a clear day, then you can see all the way to the snow capped mountains in the distance! There was a bronze copy of Michelangelo's David there too!! Me and one of my roommates waited up there for the rest and some of their friends to show up so we could watch the sun set from up there. It was so beautiful! Santa Croce, The Duomo, Ponte Vecchio
